Billing Insurance and Patient’s Responsibility

NWL/NWP will bill your insurance provider if you have provided insurance information. If, for any reason, your insurance does not cover these tests, you may be responsible for any remaining balance, including and up to the full charge amount. It is your insurance company that makes the final determination of your eligibility and benefits for services rendered. We encourage you to contact your insurance company if you have any questions regarding your eligibility or benefits.

Understanding the Explanation of Benefits

Self-Pay or Private Pay

If you have no insurance coverage, we will bill you directly for these services. You may be eligible for a discount if you choose to pay your account in full within 10 days of the date you are billed. Please call our billing department at 360-671-5905 to inquire about our prompt pay discount for self-pay patients.

Reference Testing

Most tests are performed at our facilities in Bellingham, but in some cases it may be necessary to send a specimen to a separate reference laboratory for certain tests that we do not perform in-house. If this happens, you or your insurance company may receive charges directly from the reference laboratory. NWL has no financial interest in or management of the reference laboratory.
